The area also offers a choice of 19 other courses within 30 miles of the resort. These include the two famous courses at Turnberry, eight miles away, with its fine silver sands stretching for one and half miles and protected by grassy dunes. Both the Ailsa and Arran courses look out over spectacular coastal scenery towards Ailsa Craig.

The small, pretty town of Troon is famous for its turreted red sandstone Victorian houses that look out to the sea on one side and over five golf courses to the other! The most famous belongs to the Royal Troon Golf Club, frequent host to the British Open Championship and other international contests.
